I have bought a classic ipod. I'm totally new to this game so do I have to download the itunes software from the apple website to be able to record my cd's onto the computer and then download them onto my ipod?

I didn't have a CD with my ipod when I bought it so I presume this is the next stage?

If you install iTunes, store your music there. You don't need a CD to install anything, just use the USB cable that came with the iPod and connect the PC and the iPod, the music will automatically transfer.

(Make sure the music you want on your iPod it ticked on itunes, you'll see what I mean when I install it)

Oh I see! If I want to store my CD albums on my ipod how do I go about that? - sorry to be so dimp but haven't done this before - I have masses of cds.
It's OK, everyone as to learn at some point :o)

After installing iTunes, just chuck the CD in the drive and it will automatically store the music in iTunes. Be careful of how much music you keep ticked for putting onto your Ipod, if you have loads of CD's then the chances are that there won't be enough room for it all on your iPod and if that happens, iTunes picks and chooses of it's own accord what goes to your Ipod.
