runny poo
7 Answers
Hi folks,
I have just got another dog, and have found that her poo has gone really runny and green (nice). I have a feeling that this is because I have started feeding her different food than she used to have. She is a seven month old lab. Am I correct in my thinking and if so how long will this last? I got her on Monday.......
Thanks in advance!!

I think you won't be far wrong, vandersam: usually a whole new diet upsets a dog's tummy. If it is good quality food, then your dog's tummy will soon get used to it. Keep an eye on her, and if she becomes dehydrated or starts acting oddly, get hr into the vet. Otherwise she will soon adjust.

thanks leela, I went home to see ehr lunchtime and there wasa nice surprise waiting for me on the kitchen floor. The good news is that it is becoming more solid so I think perhaps she just needs a short period of adjustment. I am feeding her high quality dry food but have no idea what she was eating before. Thanks for the advice and yes....I will give her plenty of cuddles :) Thank you!
Any change of food should be done over a week at least, longer if the dog has known digestive problems ie: colitis. If you are confident that the diahrroah is food related, starving her for 24 hours, and only giving her water, and gradually introducing a bland diet of chicken/fish and rice should resolve it, and then introduce the diet you want to feed her with.
