I have incurred a fixed penalty fine of 60 euros for speeding in the Republic of Ireland. Now I'm back in the UK, what could they do to me if I fail to pay?
Well if i was you i'd pay it and think yourself lucky. I'm based in Northern Ireland but the business im involved in sends drivers and vehicles to the Republic and they can and do lock up drivers for the smallest driving infringments and if your stopped their with an outstanding fine I can assure you you'll need a very good lawyer. As to getting you to pay while your still in the UK i don't think they can but do you want to risk it?
i once lived in france and was accused (wrongly i hasten to add) when i returned to the uk of stealing a fridge. they sent me a load of letters and court threats but as i ignored them it all fizzled out (not that i'm saying you shouldn't pay the fine but what the heck)
