As we all are aware Speed humps/ Bumps are there for a very good reason BUT have you ever thought about the damage they do to the suspension of your car? when cars are manufactured they have a set height for the Shocks Etc to be tested , But are the speed Ramps/ Bumps/ Humps the correct height? I think not, It would be an Interesting Survey to find if the ones placed by the Highways Dep throughout the UK confirm to the Correct Dimensions in Width Height Lenght. How many times have you hit a bump & said Bloody Hell then stopped to check your underside of your car? & before the Safety Bridgade come on & say you should slow down that is not the question.

the front spoiler on my car has been bashed and replaced so many times that I gave in and took it off, but the front of my car is still quite low so I have to creep over speed bumps.

and I leave the Ferrari in the garage.
Im always aware of the potential damage and I drive at an appropriate speed over the humps. some do seem quite deep so I approach them with more caution, any damage I do will be as a result of driving too fast over the bumps.

if you go less than 15 mph you should not do any damage to your car
yeah the fad for lowering suspension has been affected by the introduction of speed humps

There's one near me which stands proud of the rest, and is covered in gouge marks. It's not on when you are going safely over the bumps at a continuous 15-20mph and one catches you out.
I feel sorry for the patients in the back of ambulances
My husband drives an ambulance and he does some nifty thing with his clutch and brake that makes the vehicle glide over them - he tried to show me how to do it in the car, but I have two left feet and just couldn't get what he was talking about and he had to shut up before it devloped into an argument!
The increase in number of these traffic calming measures has also been blamed for an apparent increase in the failure of headlamp bulbs.
The amount and variety of cars i have recovered from 20 yards after a speed hump is un real, all with broken front springs and some where the spring has gone through the tyre, theses are a real mare to tow away
french cars are better over speed humps for some reason
