If your using a USB mouse try a ps2 mouse ALWAYS TURN OFF COMPUTER BEFOR CONECTING OR UNCONECTING PS2 MOUSE. If you're still having problems disconect eveything from USB sockets. Finally it might be a windows explorer problem in which case your best bet is to reinstall WINDOWS.

Random shut downs or reboots are often the result of damaged RAM. Like the others say, make sure your virus definitiions are bang up to date and do a full system scan, then I would suggest checking the RAM.
