1yr old that always wakes around 2am!
Does anyone have their son/daughter come into bed with them through the night ..... my son used to sleep through til 7am before he came down with a 9 week cough/cold but he always seems to wake half way through the night ..... Ive had instances where I will lay him back down and rub his belly ... he will then fall back asleep but lately its a real cry with arched back. Besides putting him in bed with me - he wont settle.
Has anyone done this and been OK getting them out of this routine later in life --- or are you still suffering
My son has just turned 1yr old

My daughter did this after she came out of hospital suffering from croup at 18months, and she is now three and we still find that it is her light period of sleeping and can be easily woken at that time by noise or anything.
She would often only settle in our bed but I would return her once she was asleep and I would tell her that when I went to her. It took about a month but like you say I think her illness lingered on so it took a while for her to feel better and little ones don't understand why they feel ill and that it will get better.
It may sound silly but the other thing that worked for us was having the heating coming on about 1.30 for a hour seemed to help as she often was just sensitive to the cold and loved to kick off her bedding and hated sleepsuits.
Hope this helps, best of luck.

Hi everyone - thanks for the replies.
ROCKCHICK - I never thought about the heating thing to be honest but I do have him in either a grow bag or fleece sleep suit over PJ's!! I always thought he may be too hot but of late his hands have been cold - a blanket would just be kicked off too!! May try your idea tonight.
DANCHIP - Ive done the laying back down, patting/stroking his back/belly but when Ive left the room and he isnt asleep (which is more often than not) then he gets himself too worked up to leave ... to the point of being sick and Im worried about waking the neighbours.
TERAMBULAN - he sleeps alone in his room but he has soft teddy or two in his cot which he likes to nuzzle into!
As I said with my first post, I will just have to persist with it all and hopefully he will stop waking. Not even Medised will keep him asleep - LOL!!

my 18month old was fantastic at going to be and sleeping 12 hours until he had his MMR which gave him a chest infection and would wake up coughing and crying, his mummy decide to bring him into our bed and we couldn't get him back out for 2 months until we tried the leaving him to scream himself to sleep method which worked within 2 days
hello my daughter went through a small phase of doing this, it was every night at one point, to be honest at the time i just left her to it, but she grew out of it within months
she never wakes up now, i think if it was an on going problem you just have to carry them back to bed and be persistant, maybe jump in their bed while they fall back to sleep???
xx
