well i cant see the point in disciplining some1 whose working there notice but then again it depends on what the person has done
I think you can. Until you have served out your notice, you are still employed
I'd say so. Notice can be months long and a company needs to protect itself against employees doing things which warrant disciplinary measures else they could just run wild so to speak.
For the sake of upholding standards in the company, it won't have a point. For example, a company can't have someone breaches the rules and others seeing them get away with it.
However there would be little point in making a meal of it unless the 'offence' was one of potential gross misconduct - because any lesser offence may rsult in dismissal has to be given with notice anyway (and the employee would be leaving before the notice period given by the company expired.
Gross misconduct is different - no notice is given and the employee leaves immediately.
1st sentence - WOULD have a point - not won't
The terms an conditions of employment still apply during the notice period. The period of notice varies according to the contract so it would be odd if someone who had to give three months' notice, could not be disciplined during that final three months. It would also have an impact on a claim for Jobseeker's Allowance if a person were dismissed for misconduct.
Yes you can.

Conversely (sp) a major employer I worked for would go as far as refusing to accept someones notice if they were currently going through the disciplinary process.
Absolutely you can as up until your notice is served you still work for that company and are signed up to its terms and conditions.

You can also be fired retrospectively as well so even if you attend the disciplinary hearings or co-operate with the process you can sitll have your status changed from left of own accord to sacked.
