Why is it that whenever I do exercise for quite a bit of time that I get suddenly itchy - very itchy in fact.
It occurs on both of my shoulders, my back, my neck, my chest area, and sometimes my arms.
It's really bizarre and is definitely annoying because I'm not able to exercise properly without feeling itchy.
You might be thinking that I'm overweight, but I'm not sure. I'm 6 foot and I think I'm 12 stone (although I haven't weighed in a few months - scales broken!!!)
Hi,
I have suffered from mild eczema most of my adult life and its made worse or very itchy during and after a sweaty session!!! Maybe you should get yourself checked, it could be very mild and just aggravated by the sweat.
Both my daughter and I get this when we go walking. After say 5 or 10 mins of walking the itching starts. Usually round the back of the knee area or inner thigh.
I agree, its so annoying but up till now I haven 't heard of anyone else who suffers it.
Both my daughter and I do have dry skin / ezcema so I assume it must be to do with that. We both moisturize so thats not the answer.
If it is excema, get it checked out properly to see, then there are creams and you can get barrier cream to help but make sure that you don't block up too many of your glands to prevent sweating as a certain amount is normal and natural for your body when it exercises.
Clean sweat doesn't smell like stale sweat so as long as you keept clean and fresh then a certain amount of sweat is healthy.
Sorry, forgot, you can get special exercise wear which is made to let your skin breathe better when you are exercising and minimise the discomfort of getting too hot and sweaty.
You could also try some aqueous cream especially if you have only a few mild dry patches.
