Scabs sounds good. Someone who's considered to have done the dirty on someone, usually in a union dispute, is often called a scab.

Don't know Squarebear. Couldn't see where the healing part of the clue came in, as scabs cause disruption instead of healing, and it might have meant real rats :-)
