I am trying to find the name of a magazine I used to buy in the 60's. It wasn't a glossy, more like a newspaper about an A4 size. It had the words to all the new records released and I think it came out weekly. Any ideas?

The first ever UK album chart was published in Record Mirror in 1956, and in the 1980s it was the only consumer music paper to carry the official UK singles and UK albums charts.

I really appreciate you all trying, but not quite got there yet.
Thanks, and I hope you keep going for me.........
Silversue: In your earlier comment you said . . . but it wasn't melody maker, NME or smash hits, it was BEFORE all these.

Before??? Melody Maker was launched in 1926!!!!
there was a wee book simply called WORDS is it this?
Question Author
Sorry, A. Guest, ignore that last statement......oops. I just recall it before smash hits and the others, that's all. It was just a plain, booklet type thing and if my memory serves me well the front cover was a different colour each week, e.g red one week , then blue then green etc. but that's about the only colour that was in it. Thanks for your time anyway.

Musicmummy, Words, doesn't ring a bell, I can't get 'songbook' out of my head, but a few of us used to buy it in turn, and I thing the saying went, - it's your turn to buy the songbook, so I could be well off track there.
Question Author
Musicmummy - Hiya, just explored WORDS and it looks like that was the next stage of what I was looking for which was Record Song Book, Hallelujah, I'll sleep tonight - ha ha. Thanks to everyone for their kind input.
Merry Xmas too.
Hi, i used to buy Words and same with that, the cover had a different colour each time.
Your question brought back memories, my sister used to buy it in the seventies and i think the last time i bought it would be around 1982ish.
Glad you found out what you needed to know.
