i live in a caravan but i cant seem to run two heaters without the trip switch going, my mate lives in one the same size and runs twice the electrical appliances than me, can anyone tell me a safe way to up my ampage??
Safe way is to call an electrician - sorry.
The size of the van is irrelevant. The size of the cable supplying the feed is relevant. The trip switch will (or should) have been specified to avoid you overloading the cable to the appliances and perhaps causing a fire.
A electrician will be able to tell whether the cable is of adequate size to increase the size of the breaker, or whether you need to have an uprated cable.
Hi jim it is all to do with protection the site owner can only go so big to cover your cable link then the caravan RCD protects the van circuits it really needs a sparky to work out with the owner what is safely available hth Tez
Can I just say that using two electric heaters seems a very expensive way of heating your home. Have you thought of using portable Calor Gas ones, which are very warm, allowing heat to spread quickly? Also, Calor Cas heaters are non-toxic, because they only give off carbon dioxide and water vapour, and can be used anywhere where there's some ventilation and space. http://www.johnscrossshop.co.uk/WebPages/Stock List.aspx?CategoryCode=1504
