why does my lawn have white spores or fungus like things.

cause it is nice and damp and probably there is something like old wood to feed it in the ground else u r very lucky and i suggest u find out if they r edible and if so have a taste. here in italy my grandad used to get mushrooms on the lawn and we ate them but then of course i do not know what sort is on ur lawn. if u threw some old mushroom stubs onto the lawn that could have started them

Found this in my gardening book. Hope it helps.

 

Another fungus you may notice is slime mold. It sounds bad but is really harmless. You will notice clusters of small round spores on your grass. They may be white, brown, orange or black. Just sweep them off with a broom. The fungus itself lives in the soil, not on the grass plants
