For the past three years I have been in a job where I had a company car - the company paid all insurance, expenses etc. I have since left that job and am now looking to insure my own car with my own money.

Is there any way that I could use the time that I had the company car to count towards a No Claims Discount? Hopefully I can because, at present, it looks to the insurers as if I have no driving experience.

During my time driving (10 years) I have had no accidents, points etc.

Cheers

Hi,

There are insurance companies out there that will accept your past driving record towards a non claim discount, (upon receipt of a letter from your employees, regarding past insured) just check them out on the internet and be honest and I am sure one of the big companies will accomodate you.

Just what KJN says is the only way, I got a letter from my previous employee and was entitled to full NCD but, not all insurance companies accept such a letter. Thankfully mine did
I used to work in insurance and usually companies will allow something in the way of NCD on production of a letter from your employer, although not always the full amount. Good luck!
I work in insurance now and this is quite a common matter - your best bet would be to get your employer to get a letter from their Broker (presuming they have one) as this will generally be accepted as verification of the claims history of the drivers under a "fleet" type policy - or alternatively if you know who the brokers are (or can find out) give them a ring and they can check with the current Insurers who will more than likely provide this confirmation.

Good luck
