Casio digital cameras.

Anyone own a Casio digital camera? If so what do they think of it, what results have they had and any problems? Many thanks, Trish.

I've used a Casio camera for a couple of years and have had no probs at all in using it with Win98.  However, a friend who has XP reported considerable problems after installing the Service Pack 2, as Windoze then appears to interpret the HTM part of the Casio picture management as a virus.  I think Microsoft has a work around for the problem, but it isn't straight forward to view the pictures as it is in Win98.

I have an exilim and it is great. Very user friendly, with enough tricks to for the expert as well. A few of my friends have been impressed with it, and went out and bought one too.

I also suffer the problem noted by EFkay. The software suppplied by Casio for viewing the pictures is similar to internet exploer and uses pop ups to show enlarged pictures. Windows SP2 has a pop up blocker that prevents this, which is a pain. However It is easy enough to create a directory system yourself in my pictures or your hard drive somewhere, and use the slideshow tool in windows photo and picture viewer until the SP2 fix is created.

This bug should not put you off what is an excellent, sleek and robust camera. The bugs is a Windows one, not a problem with the camera.

Thanks Efkay & AYB. I was primarily interested  in a Casio digital because I heard that they were such clever little cameras. I hadn't thought about the downloading side and I'm afraid I've been spoilt with the Sony Malvica which uses floppys, and nothing is easier than that in my opinion.  However, I am now interested in something smaller, nice to handle, 5/6 mpixels, simplicity to use. Incidentally, I do use Me at home. However, I recently got an XP laptop which I specifically bought to use on holiday in conjunction with the camera so I shall heed advice given. Many thanks.

I was about to buy one recently (Casio Exilim Z57) and all the reviews looked really good.  I basically wanted a very slim/small digital camera with large LCD display.

However, I opted for the Panasonic Lumix FX7 which is roughly the same spec and even has Leica lenses.

i got an casio exilim Z40 about six months ago and i can't fault it.

good price (�240 got me the camera, a case and a 256mb memory card) big screen, great picture quality, easy to transfer pics to my pc, just enough features to keep you busy, but not overwhelm you.

i can't really think of anything bad to say about it!

Thanks KM - have had a quick look  at specs on both cameras you mention.  Such  a minefield. Looks like you made a good choice though. Quite a large lcd for such a small camera. Thanks also SQ. Had a quick look at the spec on your camera, not in depth though. The Casio sure looks like a winner, though I haven't looked or handled one yet. It does seem that the original old camera manufacturers are having to keep on top with the computor/keyboard/tv etc experts!  I'll probably be another month making a decision ... unless I make a snap one!
