Page down key
8 Answers
I have a Word document of 96 pages (all separate, i.e. no run-ons). I've made some alterations, and I need to check that the headings are all at the top of the page. My Page Down key isn't working, and it takes a long time to scroll down and stop at the right place every time. Page Up is OK, so I suppose I could go to the end and work backwards, but I'd like to fix it if it isn't too complicated. Any ideas, please?

(it only works 1 screen at a time not actual pages .... unless you use the correct view)
stupid question first ... does page up work?
now the intelegent one ... does page down work in other progs?
and finally .... is the scroll lock key indicator on?
(you have numlock, caps and scroll lock on keyboard)
on lappy it's generally a Fn combination)

Think you may have got it with the "assume that the Page Down key is broken"
if it's a desktop you can just buy another keyboard very cheaply. if it's a laptop replacement keyboards are not normally hugely expensive from ebay but obviously changing them is a bit harder
Incidently on one of my laptops holding down the Fn key and using the down arrow does page down, but on the other one that key combo does the brightness... but worth a try.

and use a key you can live without
or ... in accessibility there is the onscreen keyboard
start | run - type OSK
and enter ....

Whenever I need to include *headings* in a Word Document, I use the Headers & Footers option - these work even if you want different headers throughout the document, you just put in section breaks at the required place. The Headers then get printed out at the top of each page, so you don't need to worry about ensuring they are in the right place. The same goes for Footers by the way - these are very useful if you want to identify the name of the document, author, date etc.
To put a header into your document, click on the View tab, then click on Header & Footer. Word should automatically take you to the Header area but if you need to go to the Footer area, just click on the 4th button from the right.
