was told on friday that i have to stop drinking for a while as i have two ulcers so i start the course of treatment on monday anyone else had to do this course and does it work to cure the ulcers

Hi daneswalk sorry to hear about your problems, not the time of the year to have to let up on the celebratory/keeping warm little tot or two. I've not had that trouble myself but I didn't think ulcers reacted all that quickly to whatever treatment you were taking etc. Gloomy thought, I know.

And how is Tina - a little less traumatised I hope, poor little girl............. best wishes to you both S

not much change with tina but thanks for asking it will as you know take time but hopefully we will get there ah well as you know i drink grouse but now i will have something to grouse about

I was told to stop drinking two weeks ago, not because of ulcers, but high cholesterol - bummer I know, especially at Xmas - but the bonus is, I've lost 4kilo's in the two weeks - without even trying !!
Some clouds DO have a silver lining !!

My hubby can only drink lager shandie's dane, He's got an ulcer and takes Nexium.

Hi Jacey, yeah fine - no probs as of yet !!

Yeah, couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scales (only did it cos a pair of my fave trousers were easier to do up !) 70kg down to 66kg ! Wow, that's over half a stone in old money !!
Mind you, after reading that Baileys has somewhere around 3700 calories a bottle, I'm not surprised I gained it in the first place !!

Trouble with ulcers is, one you get one then they have a tendency to recur, especially if you go back to any previous habits which have caused them.

You might also find that you get problems with others things as well such as spicy or fatty foods so may have to make some long term changes in general.

It doesn't necessarily mean you have to stop all alcohol forever but moderation will probably be needed.

I had to stop drinking at 19 I got Hep A -had to stop drinking or a year.That was nowt to do with me-mad virus.
I get tested constanty now - and sometimes the Doc say take a couple of weeks off -no prob -so for all the pigs who cant help themelves having a wee pop-I laugh up my sleeve at you-ha ha !!

Danes - I stopped like that -when my first husband,soulmate best pal and crucially my bairns daddy was killled last year -it was a cakewalk.Its no hard -I can now have a drink but I didnt for aroun 5months -it was simple and after the New Year im doing the same as I feelso good and slep so much better-i'm not being silly as we are going to Spain for Xmas so no point in kidding myself on !!
Hope you will do it as you will feel so much better -truly -then you can have a drink again -I can no probs but when my GP says -take a month off its not a prob as I can.
Its my blood -i handle it -its not a prob.Anyway try it and be healthy -=you'll still get yer Grouse if yer a good boy ha ha xxx

Really???

Thats mad -mine was just a virus and even tho the liver 're thingies' that wee virus has made me very tender.I can bruise for no reason and when I do I know my blood isnt congealing -head to my GP amd even tho I havnet had a drnk he tests me and its the same old -its not even like I drink heavy -I have to be careful.

Got an ace GP tho -it helps !!
