happens on my clio all the time
I think it happens on most cars!
Question Author
really? its not happened on any of my previous cars......
I would think this is frozen condensation, meaning that there is moisture inside your car. Is there a water leak somewhere, might be very small

im not sure..... what should i look for?
that would be why mine freezes, leaky sun roof :-)
As has already been said, it is water that is in the air in the car, which has frozen on the window.

It happens on the vast majority of cars.

Warm air holds more moisture, so if you have been driving you car with the heater on that will have added to the relative humidity.

Cars with Air Conditioning cope with it much better, as AC dries out the air.

Look and feel under the rubber mats - are the carpets damp? If so, you have a leak.

This can occur when you are getting in and out of your car with wet shoes, or wet bags and stuff. The damp doesn't have time to dry out before the next day, so if it a cold night, it will freeze inside your car.
make sure your air vents are closed when you lock up your car
