Best Priced Brands
5 Answers
Hi, was wondering if anyone could help? My boyfriend recently made a purchase from www.bestpricedbrands.com for an expensive Olympus camera. The only reason he chose this website was because it was marginally cheaper than others. However, the item didn't turn up after nearly two weeks. Turns out they didn't have the item and he's asked for a cancellation and a refund. On further inspection, it seems a lot of people have been had by this website. Does anyone know a) Anything about this website or had experience of it? and b) If he does not get his money back from the company, what the next step would be? Thanks very much for any advise.

I placed an order with this company last Sunday... rather stupidly I am only now looking at what other web users have to say about them. What surprised me is that they turn up as a sponsored link with Google and in price comparison web sites - is there some way to get these other sites to cut out bestpricedbrands or list them with a warning? Also I've now asked my credit card provider for any help, will let you know what they say (an adviser has to call me).
I'm pleased that your goods arrived. If it is from bestpricedbrands.co.uk, you received a US model, with no warrantee in the UK. A shady company trading from Pasadena, California, despite the .co.uk UR and everything else that would lead you to believe that they are a UK company .. The website says that they are US based but you must look very hard. Any problems with the camera you will not be able to get the manufacturer to honour the warrantee. BPB are difficult to contact as they have no address and no phone number. Many posts on other websites tell of e-mails not responded to, faulty goods, US plugs, non-delivery etc. As this a transaction involving an overseas company the law on credit card refunds is "grey".. Their various addresses prove to be fronts. A virtually identical operation, bitesizedeals.co.uk, with a different website but an otherwise identical MO,identical goods, prices, terms and conditions (which are lousy and unlawful according to UK consumer law) and similar phoney addresses in Pasadena. You have NO protection in UK consumer law if dealing with either company. You should also have been asked to pay tax and duty on imported goods worth more than 18, together with a collection fee from UPS. This will amount to 20-25% on top of what you have paid PRB or bsd. If you reject the goods both companies will charge you a 50% "Restocking" fee - illegal in the UK.. If, as they do, they have lied about the nature and value of the shipment, HMRC regard you and not the shipper as liable I await either a 397 lens or a response to one of my dozens of e-mails. my advice to anybody tempted by the prices on bestpricedbrans.co.uk or bitesizedeals.co.uk is DONT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM. Spend 5 or 10 more and buy in the UK with a credit card and enjoy all the protection that the law offers. These people are sharks.
