My brother had a quick look at my car ans said there was a bracket loose around the exhaust. yesterday something fell off while i was driving. My car is booked in for a service tomorrow so I will get him to look at that too but I just wandered if anyone would have a rough idea of how much that is likely to cost (if it was the bracket). I know it's like asking how long is a piece of string but if I have a rough idea in my head it will help to make sure I don't get ripped off.

If you are booked into a VW dealer for a service it would be the part plus labour plus the date on the office calendar plus VAT and then the cost of typing the amount into the computer.  Then when you check it the work probably hasn't been done.

You could then call VW UK who would ignore you and still send you letters boasting about how good your customer service is.

Not forgetting the cost of the piece of string. (Which they will use to tie your exhaust up with because they haven't got a new bracket in stock).

oohhh you people do make me chuckle. anywho, had the exhaust checked at quickfit a couple of weeks ago and he said that it was pretty new (I have only had the car for 6 months) so hopefully it wont come to that. My service in itself is gona cost a small fortune as I discovered it hasnt had one for 4 years. Don't worry cockney_si I won't ever take it back to VW. They charged me 80 quid to have a key cut, the piece of metal they used cost 12.89. they saw me coming.
