i own a peugeot 406 executive saloon car. very nice car, but it has a problem which i cant really understand. the car's temperature rises rapidly within a couple of minutes when it is in a hold up or when the car is started initially prior to moving it. when driving it if the temperature gets very high the engine sometimes freezes up and then when u trottle down to move it jacks up very powerfully and then moves normal. its only when i am driving on the highways with no hold ups that the problem seems to reduce. pls if anyone could help me, what could be the problem.

Check the sender on the side of the Rad, Is it working & in turn getting the fan to come in? If not, replace with new ( Not that dear)
its overheating, could be an air -lock (changed the coolant recently?), a faulty fan or fan sender unit. worst case is head gasket failure.
