what is "won't" an abbreviation of?

We have "don't" for "do not" so why isn't it "will't" for "will not"?

Sorry, I didn't read the whole question.
As suggested in the link offered above, though not actually stated, one variant of will as far back as the 13th century was wo(l)le. The negative would have been wolle not and from that it is easy to see - once the normal abbreviation process took place - where won't came from.
it's still wolle in German, I think
we have it right ooop north we say " Wilt stop doing that" LOL
because even if it existed it would be willn't because the ' stands for the middle letter in this case o.
