I phoned 999 once, and it was engaged.
No I had a major fight going on on involving 20 people the operator told me to ask them to stop shouting, I reminded her that it was'nt the shouting she should be worrying about but the fighting.
Another time a bloke was getting a right good kicking, Police took ages, they rang me back to say that 2 were on their way were just finishing their cup of tea.
I kid you not.
agree everton, liverpool have good and bad coppers, one of my co workers daugther is a police woman and they play cards most of the night!!
Agreed Puddi, I deal with the Police often and my experiences vary accordingly.
I always strive to give praise where it's due they do do a difficult job, but they don't help themselves sometimes....
My OH rang the police one sunday afternoon to report a burglary in progress. They turned up 3 weeks later to take a statement!!!!!
Yeah the police are rubbish I think Sting performs much better solo without those guys dragging him down.

the swan was still there when i left work a couple of hours later so i rang the 24 hr emergency r.s.p.c.a.spent 10 mins going threw a automated phone service i chose a option and the phone went dead.so i never got to speak to anybody
you phoned 999 to report an injured swan? WTF? hahaha, are you serious? surely the police have got better things to do like catching paedophiles? if it was that much of a hazzard why not just pull it to the side of the road,or if you was that worried about it why did'nt you take it home? 999 is an emergency number for ''HUMANS!'' now write that down and put it next to your phone so you remember in the future! 999 for a swan..........hahaha!

my blokes mates rang 999 last xmas when a drunk driver was trying to run down a bloke, they asked if he could ring back in the morning
badcompany I rang 999 when a large dog was on a dual carriageway about to cause an accident. they came out drove up and down road then said 'nope cant see it' and drove off
i work for a highway agency and out on a safety inspection of the route came across a herd of cows on the road so we pulled over rang the police and the operator told us someone had already reported it and there were officers on the way, i spent the next 20 mins with a colleague trying to divert cars and wagons all travelling at 60mph around this herd of cows. by the time the police arrived there had been a lot of near miss accidents and i really dont know how the cows hadn't been hit, anyway the 2 officers got out of their car looked at the situation and asked us what we wanted them to do about it and they aren't there to deal with livestock and that we should ring animal control at the local council and then left.

luckily by this point one of our road technicians happened to be passing with a set of temporary traffic lights which we used to close the road and thankfully the farmer turned up with a big stick and got them back into the field.

just shows how lazy the police can be when its breaktime
