How can i remove the scent of dog wee on a carpet

My little dog went to stay at my mums for a couple of weeks and while she was there she wet on her carpet twice on the same spot, we shampooed the carpet but dogs can still smell it , as my sisters dog then went there for the afternoon two weeks later and she peed on the same spot, carpet shampooer came out again, is there anything you can buy to remove the scent,

Any advice would be great

try vinegar and water.
When my dog was a pup she had only one accident on a rug and we bought something from pets at home (can't remember the name) but it smells very strongly of lemon.She never went near the spot again or even sniffed at it so I guess it must have worked.I'd read the name on here.So sorry the name escapes me.
Hi Josephine,I just looked at their website and it's called Wash and Get Off and it's �4.88. The lemon scent is citronella.Hope that helps.
I have always found Simple Solution to be excellent for odours and stains.

Biological soap powder and hot water. The powder neutralises the ammonia, we used it at the creche to stop the dogs marking all the time
There is a product called Urine Off, but soda water is a cheap alternative.
