calling all UPVC Door fitters

My front door frame measures 81" in lengh (from floorboards inside to top) and 38" in width - wall to wall

Ive seen a GRP composite door that says it fits a door opening of 82.7 x 36.6. It says the actual door size is 82 x 36.2 but i measured the door instore and it was 78' which is the same as the door i already have. Door and frame are one unit.

I appreciate you cant get a pint in a half pint pot but i was wondering if the frames could be messed around with to make it fit. I know you can fill in the sides and cover the space, i suspect that once the old wooden doorstep is removed i might have another inch below the boards. As long at the actual door size doesnt exceed the opening - i would have thought that it might be ok......????? Any suggestions other then calling Anglian. Should i measure from the outside???? from the brickwork under the door step maybe????

Sorry, ive just pulled a floor board up and the original wooden frame measures 82" from top to bottom.......

My pvc back door has a raised doorstep that I have to step over to go outside.... it's part of the frame, so I suspect that would account for the difference in height. Anyway, yes the doors are made to measure (well, mine was !)

NB I would not go anywhere near that particular company - their product may be good but they are exceedingly expensive (over �2000 for each window is what they quoted me !!!!!!) and trying to get rid of the saleswoman - she stayed for 4 hours - was hell on earth.... I had to eat my dinner whilst she stayed there, trying to persuade me to take out a loan with her company as well (to pay for the whole house to be fitted with new doors and windows).

Go to a local company if you can, preferably one recommended by a friend or neighbour. Look around at who has had windows/doors fitted recently and ask how the work went.

Thanks but GRP is not the name of a company but the name for a door that is made to look like wood but has a pvcu skin and high density foam core. I wont go to a company because i know i can get it cheaper if i buy the door and get it fitted. You dont have to get them made to measure as you can fill spaces with covers etc. Most of the big DIY stores sell double glazed front and back doors but only one sells the GRP door that im after. It only comes in one size so im hoping i can make it fit.
