My hot water goes from hot to cold every few seconds? my heating is unaffected but when I use the shower I get 15 seconds of hot water followed by 15 seconds of cold- this cycle goes on until I switch the hot tap off? Anyone have any ideas?

try not turning the tap on so fast i was told that boilers that heat the water instantly as its used ,you should not turn the tap on to fast as it passes through the whatever to fast to heat it

thanks for that - the rate and speed the tap is turned on makes no difference?

If its a combi, sounds like it needs a new hot water thermister, also known as an NTC sensor.
you need to call out a heating engineer who will then very kindly fit a new hot water thermister for you.
