you need one that has its own graphics card at least

oh, where is Chuck? I believe you'll need a dual core processor, which means the lappie can perform 2 functions at the same time without slowing down. you can get better, quad core, I believe, but don't be talked into spending more money than you need to.

I am a top dither-er YM so sympathise. When I purchased mine I spoke to two IT bods and they both recommend either a Toshiba Satellite or anythng by Sony. I opted for a TS - it was on offer, does exactly what it says on the tin and (touch wood!) is mighty reliable.
