New phone
I wish to purchase a new phone but find myself confuused by some of the terminology: What is the diffference between analogue and digital in phones? I have decided on a cordless model but do not know what is meant by x hours talktime, y hours standby.
Maybe I should point out that I'm after a landline phone rather than mobile.
Thanks in advance.

X hours talktime is the time you can expect to be able to use the phone, whether it is calling someone or browsing the phonebook.
Y hours standby time is the time it will last being left alone, but on. Basically this is when it is just sitting there between calls.
