does anybody know where i can get a list of all of my town's past mayors ?

Would the Town Hall be able to help? There is normally some list up there of past mayors.

i want to know who was my town's mayor in 1946. my friend lives in what was his house and she has been having a few paranormal experiences over the past couple of weeks. she lives alone and is terrified. when she gets into bed, she says that someone gets in at the side of her and she can hear breathing and someone saying 'Ian'...so i want to find out more about the town mayor and his family!!

see if your local library has old newspapers

You could try on line to see if your town's records are there. If not, the town hall or council offices will be able to help. Good luck with your search.

The local reference library will have all the information you will need in their Local Authority collection. They will be able to provide a chronological list and biographies.
They will also likely have the bound minutes of any electoral meetings and committee meetings. All Mayors will also have official potraits/photographs which will likely be archived at the Town hall or the Local reference library
