is it correct that car dealers can no longer display a car's mileage or tell you what they claim the mileage is? We have been told today by a dealer that they cannot disclose any car's mileage, as it is now against Trading Standards??? I think it sounds ridiculous. Is he pulling a fast one?? Ta

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.They can normally give you a mileage but say that it is unwarranted - ie they do not guarantee it. A lot of receipots will be preprinted with that on as well.
If they have taken a car in 'in good faith' that has been clocked they don't want to be liable.
Go to a site like www.parkers.co.uk and it will give you tips on how to check if a vehicle is clocked. If you don't trust the dealer - my advice is to not buy the car though.
