Livid with Debenhams
50 Answers
My teenage daughter saw a dress she liked reduced to 33 on the Debenhams website. First thing this morning she went to Debenhams to try it on and buy it. The sales assistant refused to let her try it on and said it was store policy not to let under 18's try clothes on! My daughter came home very upset and embarrassed and cross that she had made a 40 mile round trip for nothing.
My letter of complaint is already typed up.
I just wanted to get this off my chest!

It may well be the case that your daughter spole to a temp who had not listened when being trained .
I kinow I complain alot about the custoners I get, but i know the debs staff I work with have a very professional approach and are also constrained by legislation and policy, but the christmas temps are a breed apart

as for not being able to identify the asistant, the day is very structured with the fitting room cover being shared equally and the rota would have been strictly followed as staff are not allowed to leave their zone. All they have to do is look at the rota for the day before, t5hese are kept at least until the following m,onday morning and each person will have their zone/responsibility cleared timed in
The guy who rang me said that the area was being covered by temporary staff taken on for the Xmas/New Year period and Sunday was their last working day. How true this is, I don't know.
My daughter is visually impaired so she is unable to describe the woman. However, she is brilliant at recognising voices so when we go there next time I intend to engage staff in conversation so my daughter can listen to them.

i would imagione the xmas temps will be finishing in some stores already, they get accumulated holiday.
Debs are not allowed to give out any information regarding staff anyway, including their names, as the staff are representing the company and so the Store manager has to take the responsibility for anything good or bad that happens in store.
A customer demaned my name last week, all because i would not exchange a pair of tights she had opened and were laddered, i donl;t even work for debs put i know their policy, She demanded my name and was very aggressive, I refused, which i am entitled to do, and she was livid, she shouted at me and said i had to give her my name, i apologised and said she was incorrect, i did not have to.
Imagine if she had goggled me, she would have been led to this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

i would accompany your daughter to her vip treatment, whatever it may be, make the very most of it and then go home and write to head office and say it was a poor attempt at reconciling your daughters feelings and was an insufficient gesture. reel out some discrimintation laws and you may get even more out of them!!
