80's reggae mixes
6 Answers
Back in the 80's a friend had a tape of many of the normal pop songs remixed as reggae versions it was really cool. These were not reggae songs but reggae versions of pop songs. I will be surprised if anyone has heard these at all but worth a try asking just in case. please let me know were I can get this Cd or MP3, many thanks . Also I'm looking for an alternate version of UB40s Red Red Wine, sung by someone else goes something "red red wine i feel so fine..". cheers!!

Thanks for your response Ethel,
I'm new at this so not sure how to reply directly to you, I hope you are right about BBSeaton. It's funny how listening to my friends walkman all those years ago has suddenly clicked in my head and and I can't wait to hear that music again. Cheers
Thanks very much delboy you are spot on, cheers!!

You might want to try looking at some of the compilation albums on the Trojan label. Trojan have released lots of compilations, there are quite a few on itunes. If you have a look you will find reggae versions of lots of familiar tracks. You might be surprised at how many of the pop songs are actually covers of reggae songs rather than the other way round!
The Red Red Wine example is a bit peculiar as it was originally written by Neil Diamond and covered by a reggae artist called Tony Tribe (probably the version you heard) but was made most successful by UB40.
If you can remember any of the other songs I should be able to tell you who has released reggae versions.....
