Well huge topic, but I have slurped my way through a carbernet tonight but a shiraz or medoc hits the spot as well. In the pub i would go for a bass and let the wind blow free on the morrow. unfortunately not a good drinker 4 pints and thats me.
Jean and I have just slurped our way through a Mcmanis cab sauv and a yaldara shiraz, both nice, full bodied and very warming to the soul, as an accompaniment to rib eye steak, delightful.
