six weeks after being named as a winner have not recieved a cheque or almanac. they have even tried to tell me they have no record of me being named as the winner! have any previous winners been treated like this? yours, chris.

How bizarre! Oh my gosh, this must be most frustrating for you. So your name actually appeared in the paper as a winner? Maybe contact Watchdog about the matter- they may be able to help you. Shocked that a quality paper like the Telegraph, one buy regularly, would treat a winner like this- really not good!! Did you receive a letter, phone call or email from them to say you had won? Wonder if your name was published by mistake and someone else won or maybe you were the winner yet they gave the prize to someone else in a mix up yet are not admitting it to you? Something strange is afoot as Sherlock Holmes would say- needs invesgtigating further. Honestly, think someone like Watchdog would be the best ones to contact- need someone independent to investigate it for you. Good luck + keep us all posted here on your progress. Feel for you big time- to think you have won something then to be told otherwise is a big let down/anticlimax/ hopes crushed. yeah our name was in the paper as winner. they have now recognised this but first they could find no record of it but still no cheque or retuned phone calls! have to go out now but will post any new developments later. Chris

Chris, at least they have now acknowledged the fact that your name appeared as winner in the paper- some progress. Please keep trying- your persistance + the truth wil win out eventually :-) Asking someone else to be your advocate - to fight your corner- may also help. Good luck. This is awful...I would be so disappointed if this happened to me. I too do the Telegraph puzzles and am appalled that they would treat someone like this. If they published your name as the winner, you won. That's it. Either they made a mistake and published the wrong name or they made a mistake and published the right name but didn't give you the prize. Either way they should stump up.
Please keep on at them and keep us all posted here as to how you get on.

I have now spoken to the lady who was going to ring me back on mon aft or tues morn after she had spoken to a colleague. She did not ring me back as the colleague is not at work until friday! So apparently i can expect a reply tomorrow and we might be a bit nearer to getting to the bottom of this. If you are named as a winner in the Telegraph i hope you get your prize quicker than this! When i won the sun exp gk xword about 4 years ago a cheque did arrive about 2 weeks later, which i think is pretty much about right, i never imagined i would find it this difficult with the sat tel. makes you think about not doing them anymore but then i would probably go completely ga-ga fairly quickly! i was rung on friday and told the delay was down to the fact that they have problems producing cheques to send out and they are working hard to resolve the problem! to me that is waffle and they simply forgot me but the lady would not have that, but anyway it hardly explains why no almanac has been sent out! anyway, will let you all know what happens next. toodle pip, chris
