If the wren is so common how come i very rarely see one visiting the garden? I know you can not be there all the time but with the exception of the willow warbler and the wren the other eight species on the list are all regular visiters to the bird table or garden. I fact around here blue tits and chaffinches seem the most common

the Wren is Britain's commonest bird, and after Goldcrest and Firecrest, the smallest; you almost certainly have wrens breeding in your garden , but because of their small size and secretive behavior they are rarely seen, a good clue to their presence is the song, an explosive trilling warble, very loud for such a small bird, they also have a scolding tak, tak, tak call often directed at people
