I have been given a new base unit running XP HOWEVER it came from Poland.  i have an adapter plug on it and it boots up beautifully.  Problem is the language is in polish.  I went into the control panel from memory (not like i could actually read it) and accessed regional settings.

If i change to united kingdom will this amend all the language settings.  All the boot up/shut down prompts are in polish.

Anything else i need to do.  it is internet ready so if i need to download anything i can do this.

Keyboard is english

Try changing the regional settings, but I suspect that you will need to reinstall XP, as it was probably installed as the Polish version.

ok if i reinstall it do i just reinstall over the top of the polish one running ?

i can get a xp OS disc to install but i dont know where to go from here. thanks

You should be able to use your Polish serial number with an English installation CD as long as they're the same type of XP, ie, both XP Pro service pack 1. The problems may arise when you try and re-authenticate your copy with Microsoft.
I'm not sufficiently convinced that I'd actually try this myself! Not yet anyway.
