The more common spelling of this is Keir, but we went with the proper Gaelic spelling and i am comfortable with that. However, he does find it frustrating that people don't always know how to say his name and he can never buy anything with his name printed on it unless we get it specially made up for him - do be fair, there are not many things that you can buy that have Keir printed on them either!
At the end of the day, it is you and your partners baby and you both need to be comfortable with what you call him. If you are anything like me, you will probably change your mind by the time he is born, or take one look at him and decide it doesn't suit him!
Remember that one day he will be a grown man and the name you choose will need to carry him through life and allow him to be what he wants to be, for example I like the name Jamie, but think it is weird on a grown man.
For the record, my vote would go to Keenan or I always liked Kian.

My boss is called Jamie (useless fact of the day)
Agree with giving cute or unusual names can be a bane when the child becomes an adult. I wanted to call Mini Boo Poppy, but Mr Boo pointed out that as a 30 year old it might not sound so cute.
Can't say I'm a big fan of the name Keanan/Keenan (I always think of that Godawful kids programme Keenan & Kell when I hear it). But each to their own, you like it don't listen to anyone else.
If i had to go with one though- I'd go with the spelling of Keanan.

In my line of work, I've come across a lot of strange spellings of names as has Mr Lore in his place of work too.
Not only that, there are so many not very well thought out names - (classic) Annette Curtain (if you see what I mean)
Filling out new intake forms at work with a colleague left me with BOTH feet in my mouth when I commented on the spelling of a particular child's name - turned out to be her grandaughter!
Only you can decide what to call your child and how to spell their name, just remember that your little boy will have to live with it for a very long time. I personally would go with Keanan rather than Keenan.

Congratulations Shaunzy,
I always remember an American comedy programme, featuring 2 teenage boys, called "Keenan and Kell".
I am supposedly having a boy too and dislike any name I come across. I like loads of girls names, but all the boy's names are associated with either a soap, a film or some other celeb, so it really puts me off.
The main thing is, you and your partner have managed to find a name you both like, so far, my partner and I can't agree.

I'm just pleased that me and my boyfriend both like a name, so thats made my mind up to go with it, plus everyother name i liked, someone we know has it, which puts us off.
I do remember that program keenan n kell lol but luckily it doesnt really make me think of that when i say it.
Ive decided to spell it the way i like, keanan, i mean, im giving him my boyfriends last name (Wilson) which i dont have to, as we arent married.
