One over the eight? (5 letters).....Been asking about this one for five or six weeks...It's got to be in on 13/2/09 or there's a million missed!!! Any help? (will take cash).
The only thing I can suggest - and it is very tenuous to say the least - is c-o-c-k-s ( spaced out because it will be censured otherwise ) because it sounds like cox, i.e. the person in charge of a rowing eight.
Hiya both.....It's just 50 clues to 50 bird names. eg."What a happy dog does" (7) (Wagtail) "There is only one in a pyrus" (9) Partridge "One over the eight" (5) It couldn't really be c-o-c-k-s, as that's not a proper birds name, and I've already got Robin ("The fish caught his blood") as in who killed c-o-c-k robin.....Now that I've explained it proper, you are SURE to get the bird !. John
I don't know the answer but there is a play "One over the eight" (Peter Cook and Sheila Hancock among the original cast) that has a sketch called Bird watching - but I don't know anything about the play at all.
