Not sure how she applied, but there would be recruitment companies or agencies that specialise in placing actors/performers in these kinds of jobs. Try going a search on google - it may take a while. Or contact the places you're interested in working directly.
Another couple of friends I know worked on cruise ships from the UK, they were professional dancers though. There might be companies in the UK you can contact to set you up on a contact. Good luck!
First of all you need to get some training because although you may get emlpoyed without it most companies prefer it when you have experience. You will need to have a cbr check done as well, and it's handy to join Equity as it's worth being a member as I and many of my friends who are also entertainers have had problems being piad....especially abroad.
Check reguarly www.thestage.co.uk under jobs, www.entsweb.com and www.starnow.co.uk
I have worked professionally for 5 years now and I love it, it's hard work but great fun!
Good luck!
