My car was driven into. Can I request the monetry value instead of having it fixed?

My car was driven into on the motorway and can be repaired economically.

For safety reasons I don't particularly want to drive a smashed up car which has been straightened out. Have I the right to request the monetry value of the vehicle instead of the repaired car?

What value can I expect? The Glas guide price?

Who are you requesting this money from?

If the car can be repaired for less than the book value, you have no right to ask for the value of the car - the car is only written off when it either cannot be repaired or it would cost more than the car is worth to repair it.

I think that you could ask for the difference in value if you sell it rather than reparing it - but you would need to prove its pre accident market value - could be tricky. WHy not simply get it repaired adnthen sell it.

ALL vehicles are repaired to a safe standard by insurance approved bodyshops.
Depending on impact all measurements are checked to the factory spec also 4 wheel geometry is carried out.
They would not be returned to the road in an unsafe condition,the body shop would lose its contract with the ins.co. and thats what they rely on for there work.
