I had no idea what a cognizance was, but a search on the interent says it is a heraldic badge.

Henry VIII had the tudor rose, but he also had a white "****" on it (see web site below).

It may not like the word **** (male hen) so I will spell it out C O C K

I think the animal is very appropriate for Henry VIII
