oil rig jobs getting started

I passed my bosiet survival training and offshore medical in may 2005 , i have contacted oil companies & agencies looking for work but nothing available for beginers , roustabout or deck crew , has anybody got any tips or advice on how to get a job on offshore rigs.

Sorry Paul. But I've never heard of anyone getting deck work without some experience. You should try land based technical firms first. Look at Schlumberger and the like.. They do offshore well testing. It'll get you out there and you can use the offshore experience on future applications. It's a long road and in my personal experience.. Not worth the risk anymore. Unfortunately there's not the same earnings to be made on the rigs.
