itunes downloads and playlists lost

i recently upgraded my itunes but in doing so have lost all my purchases and all my playlists. i tried to 'check for available downloads' but that only gave me the last album i downloaded. i've lost almost �100 worth of downloads and all my playlists.

please help :(

are you sure you've lost them or are they just no longer in Itunes?

Itunes doesn't store your music, it just catalogs them.

double click on your my documents folder on the desktop and have a look in my music for a Itunes folder, and see whats in there, if all your music is there it just needs to be added to Itunes again

thanks. i have found them still on my computer, so how do i get them back onto my itunes??

right click on them and select open with and then choose itunes suppose you'll have to do that with each one

thanks for your help. i've managed to get my missing tracks back on but still no signs of my playlists. looks like i'm going to have to redo them all!

I'm glad you've got your stuff back. If the playlist files aren't there, then you will have to, yes.

Backup your stuff! Especially stuff you've purchased or things you can't easily replace.
