Winpatrol
Hi AB'ers. I have downloaded winpatrol to try and combat a computer crash problem on advice from Staples. I find it a bit complicated, not knowing what is and isn't safe do get rid of from the results. Does anyone know how to use this? Thanks.

To be honest there is nothing to do, it just sits there monitoring your PC and lets you know if any program tries to change anything without your knowledge.
A window comes up (and a dog barks) and you get the chance to say yes or no.
To be honest there are times when I have no idea if I should say yes or no (and I am VERY technical) so you will have to use bit of technical judgement.
If yo uare not sure write down the details of what it is saying is going to happen and seach on the internet for help.
You can double click on the icon (little dog) on the task bar and a Window comes up.
You can then click on each "tab" and perhaps sort by date to see if anything "new" has appeared on your PC, but that is about it.

Thanks VHG, the problem is the guy on the phone said to install it, run it and if there's over 60 entries revealed, I am to uninstall the ones I don't need. That's the sticky bit, I don't know what's valid and what isn't! Perhaps I'll take it to the shop with Winpatrol on it and ask for them to go through it with me. Thanks again...Dagman
