weeal its dundee!!!
I had a bit of a scare yesterday when we were sent an email to say our company (i work for a concession in debs) was electing to be sold from the group rather than stay and support the womens fashion brands it is linked to, it was abit of a worry til we analysed the situation and in fact it is a wise move, but for a moment there Cancun seemed sooooo much further away!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmm not too far from me, there have been tonnes of closures all over the place recently, its rife at the minute

How come some people think they are immune on here,it effects everyone in some shape or form!!
my brother in law may lose his job, he works at land rover
Haven't got 'a job' as such (I'm freelance), but things are slow and getting tougher...

I work with a charity and will still be employed, but they are are cutting staff increments, did we have have any??
No one is immune. There's been quite a few closures round here recently, companies which have traded for many years. My job is always regarded as relatively "safe" but at the moment that is by no means certain.
I hope things don't go as badly as you fear puddi
In my work no-one is safe at the moment as it's just too quiet and just trying to keep things going.

So many friends and former colleagues have lost their jobs with so little chance of getting something similar.

It's a very scary time!
Yep, its tough at the moment and likely to get worse before it gets better.

Hope things go well for you Puddi. I know how you feel, we are in the same boat

Luckily the firm my BF works for have just landed a 2 year contract on the RAF base which starts in March. I've had a sh!t year so a big sigh of relief from me.
No chance, but if I did the government would have to pay me a whacking redundancy payment and an index linked pension both tax free & all funded by you wonderful tax payers. (Thank you ever so much).
currently working abroad but keeping in touch with the northern ireland news..everyday i hear of a place closing and people losing thier jobs..there are record numbers signing on for benefit and record levels of shoplifting, burglary and general theft.does anyone else think that if it gets much worse in the uk ,we will end up with civil unrest?
Don't sigh too heavily , Government contracts with the miliatary? Oh dear!! About as safe as Northern Rock Shares.
