have you lost one?
Question Author
lol no i havent lost one as such, ive recently had one put down and lost my other one last year so 2 in quite a short space of time and having them for the past 13 years i really want another but since the law of docking came into force i know im going to find it pretty difficult to get one thats docked so i headed for a dobermann show yesterday which was really good but just struggled to see past the tail......it seems to have taken the elegance the beauty of them away
no it hasnt. they look a lot better not mutilated
If I'd have realised you were a supporter of docking dogs, I wouldn't have answered.
Would you look 'elegant' if you were docked?
Question Author
i am not here to argue for or against the docking of tails it was just my personal opinion.... however dobermanns do have very very brittle tails that can damage and i would much rather they have it done at birth than later in life should they break it then
Question Author
P.s ethel im not that bothered if you answer or not
That old chestnut of an excuse. It causes no more pain to the dog to have the tail amputated when necessary because of fracture, than to have it docked.

Docking is solely for the vanity of the owner.
Question Author
working dogs still have them done now and thats obviously for a reason
Question Author
Both mine were done legally obviously before the ban came in by there breeders vets....i have heard of a case where a rottweilers pups had there's done by a stanley blade by the owner, they all died........would you rather it be done above board or driven underground i know what id prefer
yes not to have it done at all!! no need for it. dobermans and rottweilers are rarely used as working dogs anyway so its back to the owners vanity and the breeders greed and ignorance
