I don't blame you. Vista is slow, buggy and so jam packed with popups and unwarranted security features that you would have to be mad to use it by choice. Its only saving grace is that technophobes (those people who really should not own a computer) will find it hard to screw up the OS, mind you they will find it hard to get it to do much at all except ask them stupid "do you really want to do that" questions.
Go back to XP until Windows 7 is released proper.

Vista is decent enough if you have enough RAM in your machine, but if you dont, it is a bit of an old dog.

To me, Vista is just a buggy OS that looks flashy - i'll be sticking to XP for a while yet.....

exactly, it also seems to shut down for no apparent reason just when I'm in the middle of doing something really interesting so that I have to start all over again ,(boot through screen comes to mind)
Cant say i've known Vista to just shut down on it's own.

I'd be more inclined to say you've got a problem with your machine, rather than the OS being dodgy!

sorry I meant to say crash then I have to shut it down and start again
MrJolly,

the so called "unwarranted security features" are probably the best thing that microsoft have done for windows for ever. despite some initial problems and bugs at least with vista they have finally released a OS that has a half decent level of security built into it.

Tinkertom..

the crashing is unlikely to be cased by vista it's self, more like (as MrBounty has said) by a hardware problem, or by a badly written driver. update all your drivers to the latest versions to see if that helps.

(or install Linux, which is my preference!)
And Chuck's ever lasting quest to turn everyone onto Linux continues...... ;)
nothing wrong with vista, never had a problem and been on it since the outset just about. Never crashes, not like XP which used to sometimes. I think you'll find problems come with what you're putting into it rather than the OS
No more problems with Vista than I had with XP (in fact probably fewer problems). Of course, you need much more powerful hardware to run it on. (You wouldn't expect to be able to play "Halo" on a ZX Spectrum, would you?).

Plus, it looks nice.
I have xp on my main PC, and on my lap top it has vista. I hate vista.
Linux is going from strength to strength with continuous development, can be obtained free & no ripping off by Microsoft`s prices.
I could not get on with Vista and I have just paid 125 to have it changed over to XP. Worth every penny. !!!
