However cheap DVDs will fail, and you will finish up with more costers (failed recordings) than if you buy "name" DVDs.

Good place to get disks at a decent price.
I think it's generally noted that DVD-R is best for video and DVD+R is best for data.....although, there's not too much between them.
You'll find that some (usually a bit older) DVD recorders state that they can only record to one or another type of disks.
