For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.When in an enclosure the speaker will compress and decompress the air in front of it as it moves forwards and backwards, thus creating the bass sound. When not in an enclosure, as the speaker moves forward, the air insead of being compressed will tend to rush arround to fill the void at the back.

Its very difficult to hide a deep base sound,Have you got an EQ button,if so you could put it on jazz or rock or depress the base button.Or last but not least change the speakers!!

placing sonething spongy over the bass speaker will help. Also sit the speaker on a spounge mat.
