Just bought a necklace from a shop called Paprika - its not a jewellers but they've got some lovely pieces in there.
It's a chain with 7 rings on it and on the card it came with it says the seven rings are sterling silver but I can't see a silver mark on the rings - they are tiny but should they have a mark on them if they are silver - also on close inspection they have got a funny join
I've got a few pieces of silver jewellery which I know for certain ARE sterling silver, but they're so fine it's impossible to see the mark.
If the card the chain was on says sterling silver, I guess it must be or the shop would be breaking the law.
Just popped to a jewellers to ask them. Man inspected it with magnifiying glass and reckons it is so I'm happier. Its got 925 stamped on the chain but its stamped on two little bits on the end that look like they have been crimped onto the end of the actual necklace and also the rings on the necklace aren't joined smoothy, they are about half a milimetre out of line. The man in jewellers reckons they were soldered though
