Because the U.S. is such a massive area, there are large numbers of artists who make very successful careers who are utterly unknown in the UK.

The UK however, is far more successful at exporting its artists, although again, the cross-over does not always occur.

Bands like Oasis have never made it big in the U.S, but some UK bands are huge in ther US, and virtually unreported here.

So the short answer is 'yes' - but it's not quite that simple.
I do and my list includes
Warren Zevon
Steve Earle
Guy Clark
Jerry Jeff Walker
Dan Fogelberg
Tom Rush
John Fogerty
John Prine
Tom Waits
Harry Chapin
Austin Lounge Lizards
Reckless Kelly
Phil Ochs
This is besides the mainstream stuff like Dylan, Springsteen, James Taylor,Tom Paxton,Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, etc.
REM is my favourite band and is popular both sides of the Atlantic as far as I know.
